Chelsea set to keep Emerson in January

Emerson Palmieri will not be leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Speculation has surrounded the wing-back’s future at Stamford Bridge as he continues to be overlooked by his compatriot and manager Maurizio Sarri this season.

The Italy international has acted only as an understudy to first-choice left-back Marcos Alonso following his arrival in West London.

Emerson was signed from Serie A giants AS Roma in the most recent January transfer window by Antonio Conte, as he looked to strengthen his defensive options.

The 24-year-old has been a regular starter for Sarri in cup competitions this season but has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football.

This prompted claims that Emerson could be keen to depart Chelsea when the winter window opens as he goes in search of first-team football on a more regular basis.

Nevertheless, as per the report from Calciomercato, the Blues do not intend to part ways with the wing-back any time soon.
