Bakayoko’s injury not as bad as first feared

The injury Tiemoue Bakayoko suffered in the Europa League on Thursday night is not as bad as first feared.

Reports in Italy have revealed that the French midfielder carried out some medical tests on Friday and the early signs are believed to be positive.

Bakayoko remains a doubt for Sunday’s Serie A game against Parma, but further tests will determine his availability.

There were some concerns for the Chelsea loanee when he was taken off during Milan’s Europa League clash with Dudelange.

The timing of the injury comes as a blow to the midfielder, who is beginning to find his feet at the San Siro after a tricky start.

Bakayoko was linked with a January return to London after failing to impress in Italy, but he is slowly making a case for Milan to take up their option to buy him permanently.

With Maurizio Sarri not so keen to use the midfielder this season, there does not appear to be an immediate future for the player at Stamford Bridge.
