Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over a deal to sign Elseid Hysaj in January, according to Calciomercato.
The report claims that Chelsea would be willing to pay as much as €50 million for the Albanian defender in January and allow Napoli to keep him on loan until the end of the season.
The Serie A outfit have refused to sell in the past, but with concerns over his long-term future at the club, Carlo Ancelotti’s side could be tempted by the offer to cash in.
Chelsea are expected to sell Davide Zappacosta in the summer and the arrival of Hysaj would mean a readymade replacement is available there and then.
Maurizio Sarri has been very keen to bring the defender to London and Chelsea are refusing to give up in their pursuit.
A January agreement would also allow Napoli enough time to find a replacement, with the Italian outfit being linked with moves to sign Atletico Madrid’s Santiago Arias.
