Sarri hoping to rival United for Lorenzo Pellegrini

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri will join Manchester United in their pursuit of Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.

According to local Rome outlet Il Messaggero, the Chelsea boss is keen on signing the classy Italian midfield operator, despite the recent links to Old Trafford.

Pellegrini, who has been impressing in Serie A this season, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, with some reports going as far as suggesting that talks have already taken place.

Jose Mourinho is said to be a huge admirer of the player and wants to add him to his squad as he seeks reinforcements in midfield.

Sarri shares similar admiration and has been linked with moves to bring him to Stamford Bridge previously.

Chelsea face the prospect of losing Mateo Kovacic in the summer if they can not agree a deal with Real Madrid over a permanent transfer, meaning the Blues could be in the market for a midfielder.
