Calcio Mercato claim Lazio are preparing to make a loan offer for Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta.
The full-back has found first-team football hard to come by under Maurizio Sarri, having made just two Premier League appearances so far this season – both from the substitutes bench.
Despite being an important part of the Blues’ Europa League campaign, the 26-year-old may be shipped out by Sarri in order to give a chance to a younger full-back, who may be recalled from a loan spell of his own to fill the gap.
Zappacosta arrived at Chelsea prior to the 2017-18 season, signing a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2021.
Arriving from Torino, the West Londoners coughed up €28 million in a base fee for the Sora-native, excluding various bonuses.
The Italian national could make the move back to his home nation after a short stint in England, although it seems unlikely he’d leave on a permanent basis.
