Sarri keen to replace Morata with Higuain
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen to replace Alvaro Morata with Gonzalo Higuain in January.
According to claims from Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset, as cited in a report from Calciomercato, the boss is desperate to reunite with the Argentina international at Stamford Bridge.
Higuain enjoyed a productive spell at Napoli under the stewardship of Sarri and a reunion has been touted since the Italian’s appointment in West London.
It is claimed that the Chelsea manager deems Morata to be surplus to his requirements, indicating that the club could pursue a new striker in the upcoming transfer window.
The Spanish international has featured regularly for the Blues this season but has been rotated regularly with Olivier Giroud up front.
Higuain, meanwhile, has also failed to truly influence proceedings at San Siro following his summer move to Milan.
The forward joined from Juventus on an initial loan deal, with the Rossoneri having an option to buy him at the end of the season.
Gennaro Gattuso is believed to be keen on signing Morata from Chelsea and with Higuain still struggling to convince with Milan, an attacking shake-up could well occur at both clubs when the transfer window opens at the turn of the year.
