Manchester City are hoping that they can beat both Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
All three clubs are keen to sign the young Frenchman, but it is Manchester City that are set to make an opening offer, according to reports in Italy.
Calciomercato, who cite claims from Sky Sports, reports that a huge €60 million offer is being readied by the Premier League champions.
Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of the player and is keen to bring him to Manchester in the near future.

City have been heavily linked with a move for the player as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
Aouar starred in Lyon’s games against City in the Champions League this season and has clearly done enough to convince them.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the youngster, with Aouar’s performances earning rave reviews in Ligue 1.
