Lazio eyeing Zappacosta swoop in January

Lazio are considering a swoop for Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta in the January transfer window.

According to The Sunday Mirror, via The BBC, Lazio will move for Zappacosta if they are unable to strike a deal for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.

Lazio and Inter Milan are both competing to sign Darmian, but the former will look to snap up Zappacosta if Inter land the Manchester United man.

Zappacosta has had to patiently wait for his chance at Stamford Bridge this season, with the bulk of his minutes coming in the cup competitions.

Cesar Azpilicueta is the first-choice right-back for Maurizio Sarri and the Spaniard has been in impressive form at the back so far this season.

The report does not state whether or not Chelsea would be willing to let Zappacosta leave, with no other senior right-backs in the current first-team squad.
