Worry for Chelsea as Giroud hobbles off in Palace clash

Chelsea will be worried about the fitness of Olivier Giroud after the forward limped off the pitch with an ankle injury against Crystal Palace.

The forward had to be taken off in the 76th minute and replaced by Alvaro Morata after suffering an ankle injury in the Palace box.

Giroud raced through on goal and smashed the ball into the top corner, only to be flagged offside, but rolled his ankle in the process.

After some treatment on the pitch, it became clear that he needed to come off and now Maurizio Sarri will be concerned how serious an injury it could be.

The French forward has only scored one Premier League goal so far this season, but found the back of the net twice against Palace – only for both to be ruled out for offside.
