Monaco closing in on Fabregas deal

AS Monaco appear to be edging ever closer to completing a deal to sign Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.

The Spanish midfielder is high in demand following the opening of the January transfer window and it is reported by the French media that Thierry Henry’s side have moved forward in their pursuit.

According to claims from L’Equipe, as cited by GFFN via Twitter, a deal could be tied up between Chelsea and Monaco as early as next week.

Fabregas has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge following Maurizio Sarri’s appointment at the club.

The former Arsenal star has been utilised only on a sporadic basis, with summer recruits Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho both ahead of him in the pecking order of central midfielders.

AC Milan and Fenerbahce have been linked with respective swoops for the Blues man but it seems Monaco have stolen a march on their competitors.

The 31-year-old has started just one Premier League game this season.
