Fabregas’ move to Monaco hits possible stumbling block

Cesc Fabregas’ transfer to Monaco has not yet been completed, with negotiations with Chelsea still ongoing, according to the Mirror.

Fabregas played his last game for the Blues on Saturday, missing a penalty against Nottingham Forest but receiving a standing ovation later in the game.

The Spaniard’s switch to Monaco was believed to be plain sailing, but there is still work to do.

Fabregas flew to France on Sunday to conclude the deal, having agreed a two-and-a-half year contract with Thierry Henry’s struggling side.

A fee has not yet been agreed, however, with Chelsea demanding £10.75million for the midfielder.

Monaco want to pay less, which is the one potential stumbling block in the deal.

It is believed that both clubs will eventually agree a fee either way, with the transfer aiming to be announced on Monday.

Should it all go ahead without any major issues, Fabregas’ debut could come against Monaco’s south coast rivals Marseille on Sunday.
