Chelsea are to be without midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the remainder of the month as a result of a recurring back injury.
According to the Standard, the midfielder was in tears as he left the field during Chelsea’s FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest and is set to be out of action until the end of the month.
The 22-year-old has been showing promising signs after enjoying plenty of playing time under Maurizio Sarri, but yet another injury is now hampering his progress.
With attacking duo Pedro and Willian already injured, Loftus-Cheek was set to continue playing regularly for the Blues, but now will not feature in any of Chelsea’s remaining six games this month.
The England international has been suffering from back issues for most of his career and this very injury the reason for him missing Christmas fixtures against Watford and Crystal Palace.
