Morata misses Spurs clash with hamstring problem

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was left out of the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night as a consequence of a minor hamstring issue.

As reported by the club’s official website, the Spaniard has not been risked by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri as the team bid to win the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Morata was expected to have played a part in the clash against Spurs, with Chelsea fielding a rotated team.

However, the striker has been forced to sit on the sidelines as he nurses what is described as a “minor” knock to his hamstring, which was sustained in a recent training session.

The former Real Madrid man will be keen to return to the first-team fold in the near future as he looks to find form once again.

Morata has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month, with the likes of Sevilla understood to have identified him as a potential transfer target.
