Chelsea give up Hazard transfer clause as part of Pulisic deal

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to give up their first refusal clause on Thorgan Hazard as part of the deal to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.

Sport Bild claims that the Blues agreed to step away from the race to sign the Belgian, with Dortmund themselves keen to wrap up a deal.

Hazard is looking increasingly likely to leave Gladbach in the near future after failing to agree a new contract at the club.

Chelsea have been among the clubs linked with a move to sign the player, with the Blues having first refusal on Eden Hazard’s younger brother.

It had been suggested that the Blues could launch a move to re-sign the winger in one final ploy to keep Eden at Stamford Bridge, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Dortmund want to sign Hazard as Pulisic’s replacement and eager to maintain positive relations, Chelsea agreed to give up their clause, in what is a smart move from the Bundesliga side, with one less side now in the running.
