Atletico Madrid’s bid for Morata rejected by Chelsea

Talks are continuing between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid regarding the signing of Alvaro Morata, with a bid for the striker already rejected.

The 26-year-old is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this month, following a disappointing season.

Maurizio Sarri is looking at other options to bring in as a replacement in attack, with Gonzalo Higuain and Callum Wilson both linked with the Blues.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to give his take on the current situation, saying:

Talks ongoing between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea for Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea have refused the first bid but Atleti are going to make a new offer soon to find the total agreement.

A return to Spain looks highly likely, and it is Atletico who appear to have moved into pole position for his signature.

Sevilla have also been heavily linked with the former Real Madrid man.

Morata has failed to impress overall at Chelsea, after initially making an excellent start to life in the Premier League.

He has scored 24 goals in 72 appearances and just five in the league so far this season.
