Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of midfielder Charlie Colkett from Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.
According to The Mirror, via HITC, Colkett is set to move to Villa Park and spend the rest of the campaign with Dean Smith’s side in the Championship.
The report claims that John Terry has played a key role in securing his services, by convincing him to reject other clubs and sign for midtable Aston Villa.
Colkett is back at Chelsea this month after being recalled from his loan spell with League One side Shrewsbury – where he made just one appearance.
The 22-year-old had previous loan spells with Vitesse, Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town, but he failed to make 20 appearances for any of them.
He is also yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea, having joined the club at the age of 10 in 2007.
