Manchester United join race for Chelsea target Militao
Manchester United and Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Chelsea target Eder Militao, according to The Mirror.
The Blues have been monitoring the FC Porto defender for a while, alongside Liverpool who are also interested – as per the report.
Militao has impressed in Portugal this season after signing for Porto for just £3m during the summer transfer window, from Brazilian side Sao Paulo.
The Mirror claim, via the Daily Mail, that Real have already reached a verbal agreement with Porto for the defender, though Manchester United also believe they can agree a deal.
Clubs will have to act swiftly, however, in their pursuit of the 21-year-old as his current release clause of £45million will increase in July to £70million.
Militao’s agent, Ulisses Jorge, has told Portuguese outlet A Bola, via HITC, that the youngster is content at Porto and will not force a move in January, praising his maturity.
He is very happy in the city and playing for FC Porto. The only focus of Militao is to help the team win every game and to win titles with FC Porto. He is very calm. There are no news or rumours that disturb him. We are talking about a young man who has enormous maturity.
The 21-year-old has made 15 league appearances for Porto this season, scoring once and assisting once, and had an impact in his five Champions League appearances, scoring once.
