Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is unlikely to seal a January move away from Stamford Bridge.
ESPN’s Liam Twomey reports that Italian side Lazio are interested in the player but will not meet Chelsea’s demands this month.
Zappacosta is out of favour at Chelsea and is widely expected to leave the club in the near future.
Lazio had been linked with a loan move that would include the option to buy in the summer, but with time now running out in the January window, a deal is looking increasingly unlikely.
He has found game time hard to come by under Maurizio Sarri this season, being limited to action in the cup competitions on the odd occasion.
With Cesar Azpilicueta a regular at right-back, it is hard to envisage where or when Zappacosta will find game time during the second half of the season.
The player’s future will no doubt be a talking point once again at the end of the season.
