Phil Neville launches scathing attack on ‘Sarriball’

Maurizio Sarri’s supposed ‘Sarriball’ is no different to what was on show at Chelsea before, claims Phil Neville.

The Blues manager is under increasing pressure to save his job, with supporters fast losing patience with him.

Wednesday’s 4-0 thrashing away to Bournemouth was one of Chelsea’s worst defeat in recent memory and fans vented their anger at Sarri.

After a strong start to the season, in which he was earning endless praise, his side have dipped horribly.

Having looked like potential title rivals to Liverpool and Manchester City, they are now struggling to finish in the top four.

Speaking on Premier League Today, Neville was full of criticism for Sarri, saying he has had nowhere near the influence of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, and has alsotreated Eden Hazard badly:

You hear all these coaches talk about ‘Sarri-ball’, saying ‘this coach is revolutionary’.

And when he came in at Chelsea I was waiting… I was waiting for something special.

When Pep came and when Klopp came we saw something different but I don’t think we’ve seen anything different from ‘Sarri-ball’.

Nothing about it has blown me away. He always takes Barkley and Kovacic off at 60 minutes every game.

Sarri going after Hazard, I don’t think was the smartest move because he’s their best player.

I think Hazard will be a Real Madrid player next year, that’s my gut feeling.

And he’s not playing at anywhere near the standard that he should be at the moment.

Sarri faces a must-win game on Saturday afternoon when his side host Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge.

There is an increasing feeling that the 60-year-old could be on his way out sooner rather than later.

Failure to secure victory this weekend could spell the end.
