Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea have turned into Arsenal, in terms of having a soft centre.
The Blues suffered a humiliating afternoon at the office on Sunday, after being dismantled 6-0 by champions Manchester City.
The game was embarrassingly one-sided from moment the Raheem Sterling netted early on and City could have scored more.
During the Roman Abramovich era, Chelsea have been famed for being hard to beat and possessing strong characters.
That no longer appears to be the case under Maurizio Sarri, however – something Carragher highlighted during Sky Sports‘ coverage on Sunday.
The former Liverpool defender believes Chelsea now resemble Arsenal, and not in a good way:
City have been outstanding, but this has been as bad as anything from Chelsea this season.
It’s only halfway through Sarri’s first season but the worst thing I can say is it looks like he has turned Chelsea into Arsenal.
The Arsenal team that has got battered away from home in the last seven or eight years because they have been too weak. You couldn’t say that about Chelsea in the past, but this looks like a weak team.
The first goal is criminal from [Marcos] Alonso. It’s so casual three or four minutes into a big game. He was not switched on at all.
Sarri now finds himself under huge pressure, following one of the worst defeats in Blues history.
There are question marks surrounding the players’ attitude towards the manager and a top-four finish now looks increasingly unlikely.
The defeat saw Chelsea drop to sixth in the Premier League table.
