Frank Lampard has played down talk linking him with the Chelsea job, as the pressure mounts on Maurizio Sarri.

Many bookmakers had made Lampard the favourite to replace the Italian, should Chelsea pull the trigger after their embarrassing 6-0 defeat away to Manchester City.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, as reported by Derbyshire Live, Lampard played down talk of an imminent return to Stamford Bridge.

Bookmakers are not always right for starters, so I wouldn’t get excited about that. Chelsea are certainly a club I respect, and have a manager I respect.

My job is here and I’m working very hard. All my thoughts are on Ipswich Town away on Wednesday. I hope to see Chelsea put some form together and turn their results around.

Lampard has impressed at Derby in what is his managerial debut. Working alongside Jody Morris, who left the Chelsea acedemy to work with Lampard over the summer.

The Rams currently sit seventh in the Championship, level on points with Bristol City who occupy the final play-off spot.

Lampard has earned plenty of plaudits for the work he has done at Pride Park this season, but it doesn’t appear a return to Stamford Bridge is going to happen anytime soon.
