Sarri keen to avoid Napoli in the Europa League
Maurizio Sarri is hoping that his Chelsea side avoid Napoli in the Europa League.
Speaking after the club’s 2-1 win over Malmo in the first leg of their knockout tie, as reported by the Metro, the under-pressure Chelsea boss already had his eye on what’s to come.
I would avoid playing in Naples, if possible, because it would be too strong an emotional response for me to focus on the game. If Napoli-Chelsea means we are both in the Final, however, then I’d be happy for both.
Two away goals in the first leg put Chelsea in a relatively strong position ahead of the second leg, but a late goal from the hosts made things a little nervy for the Blues.
Malmo travel to London for the second leg next week and should they manage to get on the scoresheet themselves, it could turn into a worrying night for the Blues given their current form.
Sarri’s former side Napoli look to have one foot in the next round after hammering FC Zurich in their first leg on Thursday night.
Both Chelsea and Napoli are among the favourites to win the competition this season.
