Frankfurt chief plays down Chelsea’s Jovic bid
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic has hit back at claims that Chelsea have launched a big-money bid to sign Luka Jovic.
Reports in Germany last week from Bild claimed that Chelsea were in the running to sign the young striker, with Real Madrid and Barcelona among the known admirers.
However, a clearly unhappy Bobic has suggested that no such bid was made and rumours about Jovic’s future are purely speculation.
Speaking to WAZ, Bobic asked who the next bid will come from ahead of the summer transfer window.
So far, this is just typical leaves rustling with zero content. It did not scare me, but it surprised me, first it was Barcelona, then it was Real Madrid, now Chelsea, who’s tomorrow, Juve, the day after tomorrow, someone else, that was a bit too much.
Jovic has been attracting a wealth of interest after an impressive run of form this season.
With 14 league goals to his name, he is the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season, ahead of both Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea may be in the market for a striker this summer if they decide against signing Gonzalo Higuain permanently, but it looks unlikely to be Jovic.
