Former Chelsea striker and club legend Didier Drogba has named his best Premier League five-a-side team.
Speaking at the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, as reported by the Mirror, Drogba was tasked to put together a five-a-side team made up of players who he had either played alongside or against.
The Ivorian was certainly not short of options, he enjoyed a glittering career with Chelsea over two spells in London.
During his time at the club he won nearly everything there was to win, rounding off his first spell by scoring the decisive penalty in a famous Champions League win for the Blues.
While Drogba avoided the temptation to pick himself, there was a strong Chelsea presence throughout the team, with one shock inclusion.
Here is the team that Drogba put together.
No real surprises here. Petr Cech was a regular at Chelsea during Drogba’s first stint at Stamford Bridge.
It was during this time where Cech was at the peak of powers and became a club legend for the role he played in Chelsea’s success during the Roman Abramovich era.
Frank Lampard slots into what looks like a very attacking five-a-side team. Who needs defenders anyway?
Lampard’s record and statistics at Chelsea speak for themselves and he goes down as one of the all-time greats to ever grace the Stamford Bridge pitch.
Drogba was brought back to the club by Jose Mourinho with the intention of guiding and mentoring players like Eden Hazard.
The pair enjoyed a great relationship on and off the pitch. The Belgian adds the flair and trickery to Drogba’s team.
In many people’s eyes, the best ever Premier League player, so it is no surprise to see the Frenchman make the cut. Henry will be the man tasked with scoring the goals in Drogba’s team.
Now, the surprise inclusion that really stands out is former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch. While he boasts an impressive record and career in the Premier League, he is not the player that many would have expected to be in the team. Despite that, Drogba clearly likes what he sees!
