Mateo Kovacic wants to stay in the Premier League beyond the end of the season.

According to reports in Spain from El Chiringuito TV, as cited on Calcio Mercato, Kovacic is keen to stay in England.

The Croatian midfielder is only on loan at Chelsea until the end of the season, after joining the Blues as part of the deal that saw Thibaut Courtois head to Spain.

Chelsea do not have an option to buy inserted into the loan deal but are likely to be at the front of the queue by the time the summer transfer window rolls around.

While it remains to be seen if there are other potential suitors in England, Chelsea already boast an advantage in the race to sign Kovacic.

Despite the fact the player will already be familiar with the club, they could also utilise Real Madrid’s interest in Eden Hazard. The Spanish club are expected to offer a player in return in an effort to sweeten the deal.
