Sarri sacking is ‘not imminent’
Maurizio Sarri’s dismissal at Chelsea is ‘not imminent’ yet, according to claims from The Evening Standard.
The Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge is looking uncertain, with the Blues currently enduring a torrid run of form.
Chelsea were defeated 6-0 by Manchester City in their last Premier League outing, before narrowly overcoming Malmo in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 fixture.
However, further doubts over Sarri’s position were raised on Monday night, as the Blues crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United.
Goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba condemned the team to a 2-0 home defeat and an exit at the fifth-round stage.
Reports earlier on Tuesday suggested that Chelsea had made contingency plans ahead of Sarri’s potential departure, with Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard two possible replacements.
This does not yet appear to be the case, though, with The Evening Standard reporting that the former Napoli boss will attend a press conference on Wednesday ahead of the Blues’ second leg clash against Malmo.
This signals that for now, at least, it is business as usual at Stamford Bridge.
