Alli and Dier to miss Chelsea clash at Stamford Bridge

Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Eric Dier will both be missing for tonight’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, according to a report by talkSPORT.

After failing to pick up three points at Turf Moor, Mauricio Pochettino’s team now fall six points behind league leaders Liverpool and Manchester City with just 11 games of the season left to play.

Despite the defeat, Spurs fans can rejoice as Harry Kane looks to have picked up where he left off, scoring on his return from injury on Saturday.

There is no such luck for Alli as he has still yet to feature in the squad after picking up a hamstring injury against Fulham in January.

With Arsenal and a Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on the agenda over the next week, Pochettino and his staff will be hoping the midfielder will be back as soon as possible.

The England international is said to be “continuing with on-field rehab” and “progressing well” but there have been no hints of an imminent return as of yet.

The 22-year-old was Spurs’ key to victory the last time the two teams met at Stamford Bridge in April as he bagged two in their 3-1 victory – their first win at the Chelsea ground in 28 years.

Dier also played a crucial role in the game as he assisted Alli for Tottenham’s second with a pinpoint long-range pass.

The 25-year-old will also miss out due to tonsillitis and hasn’t featured for the side in their narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle.

matchday.
