Hazard issues positive fitness update

Eden Hazard has confirmed that he will be fine to feature against Fulham this weekend.

Speaking after the win against Tottenham, the Belgian told reporters, as cited on football.london, that he is ‘fine’.

I was not good. I still felt the 120 minutes against City in my legs. And I had some pain in my thigh. I almost didn’t play, but the pain hasn’t aggravated. I’m fine.

Maurizio Sarri took the brave decision to replace Hazard just after the hour mark against Spurs on Wednesday night, an uncharacteristic decision from the Italian head coach.

Hazard had been enduring one of his worst performances in a Chelsea shirt, with the player looking in desperate need of a rest.

He has been ever-present for the club this season and it appears that his efforts are catching up with him after extra time and a penalty shootout against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Chelsea face relegation-threatened Fulham on Sunday afternoon, who will have former Blues midfielder Scott Parker in the dugout after sacking Claudio Ranieri earlier this week.
