AC Milan need to finish in the top four of the Serie A this season in order to seal a permanent deal for Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
According to Tuttosport, via Inside Futbol, AC Milan are banking on a Champions League finish in order to afford Bakayoko.
The French midfielder signed for Milan on a season-long loan deal last summer, with the option to make it permanent for €38m.
The report claims that Milan are eager to exercise that option, but will only be able to do so if they finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification.
With 12 games left to play, Milan are currently third in the Serie A and three points above fifth place Roma.
Bakayoko struggled at the start of the season for Milan and was blasted by manager Gennaro Gattuso, but has become a regular fixture in their midfield in recent months – playing a massive part in their excellent form.
