Sarabia rejected January switch to Chelsea

Sevilla midfielder Pablo Sarabia reportedly rejected the chance to sign for Chelsea in the January transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, via TalkSport, Sarabia turned Chelsea down in the last transfer window.

The report claims that Sarabia has a release clause of £15.4m in his contract at Sevilla, but he was not willing to leave the club in January.

Sarabia remained at Sevilla and Chelsea’s only signings of the window were Christian Pulisic – who was loaned back to Borussia Dortmund – and Gonzalo Higuain on loan from Juventus.

The 26-year-old, Sarabia, has 12 goals and ten assists in all competitions for Sevilla this season, which has attracted interest – including Chelsea.

FIFA recently hit Chelsea with a two-window transfer ban, but the club are in the process of appealing the decision, which could mean that they are still able to sign players in the summer and reignite their move for Sarabia.
