His former side advanced beyond Red Bull Salzburg in the round of 16 despite the Austrian club coming out on top with a 3-1 win in the second leg. Napoli advanced with the aggregate scoreline 4-3 in their favour.
The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Friday, with Chelsea undoubtedly eager to discover who they will take on.
Why Chelsea should be keen to avoid Napoli
Napoli are always a tough opposition, but they’re even more menacing at the Stadio San Paolo. It’d be a tough task over two legs for Chelsea.
Carlo Ancelotti is an astute tactician and has a great deal more experience in European competitions than Maurizio Sarri. It could be argued that the Napoli boss would have the upper hand on his compatriot, especially given his squad’s knowledge of their former boss.
Napoli's attacking flair
Napoli have an abundance of impressive attacking options. Chelsea’s defence is shaky, and they have struggled against quality forwards in Premier League fixtures already this season.
They're the best remaining team
Napoli are arguably the most impressive team remaining in the competition. They have world-class players in their ranks and an esteemed manager.
They aren’t without their weaknesses, but their strengths so often prevail. It’d be a nightmare draw for Chelsea.
