Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is open to a move to a Premier League club in the summer, even if it is not back to Stamford Bridge.

Kovacic is currently on loan to Chelsea from Real Madrid until the end of the season, and has played a key role in the club’s season so far.

The Croatian international has made over 40 appearances for the club in all competitions since his loan move from Spain.

According to Marca, via The Mirror, Kovacic is keen to remain in England next season and is considering his options.

Chelsea could miss out on being able to sign him permanently after they were hit with a two transfer window ban by FIFA, meaning that they are unable to register new players for the next two transfer windows – in the summer and next January.

The report claims that Kovacic would like to stay at Chelsea, but would rather move to another English club than return to Real Madrid.
