Chelsea fans to boycott home games in ‘Sarri-ball’ protest

Season-ticket holders at Stamford Bridge are reportedly selling their seats for home games in a boycott against current head coach Maurizio Sarri, reports the Mirror.

Many fans have found themselves frustrated with so-called ‘Sarri-ball’ which has seen numerous players, such as World Cup winners N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud criticised and dropped for not fitting his football philosophy.

Chelsea faithfuls have even started booing summer signing Jorginho for his pivotal role in the possession-based tactic.

The Blues’ top four hopes seem to be dwindling as they currently sit in sixth, having lost 2-0 to Everton before the international break.

Chelsea may find themselves having to win the Europa League in order to qualify for the Champions League next season should they finish outside of the top four, much like Manchester United did under Jose Mourinho.

Many feel that it is Sarri’s fault for the position the club find themselves in and the Italian finds himself tipped to be sacked by bookmakers.

AS Roma have already stated that they would welcome the boss back to Serie A, where he previously managed Napoli. But, Chelsea fear that the transfer ban they face may hinder their chances at finding a suitable replacement, with former assistant manager Steve Holland leading the race for the job on an interim basis.

Tensions have been rising at the club ever since Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to leave the field in their Carabao Cup final defeat, which almost saw Sarri disappear down the tunnel in anger.

The Daily Mail states that Chelsea want to keep Sarri for the remainder of the season, but fan unrest may change that.

Over 400 seats have been listed for sale on Chelsea’s official exchange service for their London derby clash against West Ham.

It may be only a matter of time before Chelsea executives have to make a decision regarding Sarri’s future.
