Kovacic intending to sign for Chelsea

Mateo Kovacic is intending to join Chelsea this summer, according to a report in Marca (translated by Sport Witness).

The midfielder has been loaned to the Blues from Real Madrid for the entirety of the current season, but appears to have waved goodbye to his Los Blancos career.

Despite having made over 40 appearances during his time in West London, Chelsea may not be able to make the deal permanent, given the transfer ban handed down by FIFA for allegedly bending the rules in efforts to sign young players.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport is currently considering the case, and if they rule in favour of Chelsea then a move for Kovacic seems to be on the cards.

The Croat is also weighing up other options in the Premier League however, should his preferred switch to Chelsea fail to materialise. No clubs have been named as possible suitors for the two-way threat, but you can imagine several sides would be keen on snapping him up.
