Chelsea have held talks with Cagliari over a potential deal for Nicolo Barella in the summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, via The BBC, Chelsea and Inter Milan have both been in discussions with Cagliari.
Barella was linked with a move to Chelsea in January, but opted to stay with Cagliari and continue to ply his trade in the Serie A.
The 22-year-old has been a regular in the Cagliari midfield this season and is closing in on 100 Serie A appearances for the club.
He also scored his first international goal, for Italy, against Finland on Saturday as he opened the scoring in a 2-0 win.
It was his fifth cap for his country, after making his senior debut in 2018 against Ukraine.
The report also claims that Cagliari were contacted in January, although it does not mention by which clubs, and it is said that €50m will not be enough to land Barella in the summer.
