Roma linked with summer move for Higuain

Roma are considering a summer bid for Gonzalo Higuain, according to Calciomercato.

The Argentine has struggled on loan at Chelsea since joining in January, scoring just three times in 11 appearances.

Another scoreless appearance came his way in the Blues’ 2-1 win Cardiff on Sunday, in what was a largely ineffective performance from the striker.

Chelsea have the option of signing the 31-year-old at the end of the season, having been deemed surplus to requirements by permanent club Juventus.

It is likely that Higuain will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, however, with Chelsea eyeing up younger options in attack who represent the long-term future of the club.

It is Roma who have emerged as a target for Higuain’s signature, with the striker potentially having one last big move in him.

A return to the slightly slower-paced Serie A could make sense, as his hugely impressive career slowly winds down.
