Kovacic keen to stay at Chelsea next season

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic, on loan from Real Madrid, is keen to stay at the club next season.

Kovacic joined Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid last summer, on a deal ending at the end of the current campaign.

According to GOAL, Kovacic is eager to extend his stay in England and remain at Stamford Bridge next season.

The report does, however, claim that Kovacic has had no promises from Chelsea about a permanent deal, which would first requite the club to sort out some off-field issues.

Chelsea were hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA earlier this year, which means that they are currently unable to register players in the next two transfer windows.

The club are attempting to appeal the ban and are hoping to still be able to sign players in the upcoming summer window, which would allow them to sign Kovacic on another loan deal or a permanent – if they decided they wanted to.
