Hazard ramps up the pressure with dig at Tottenham

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has ramped up the pressure on Tottenham as the race to finish inside the top four heats up.

Speaking after Chelsea’s win against Brighton on Wednesday night, as reported by Goal, Hazard joked that as nice as their new stadium is, it does not outweigh the trophy cabinet at Stamford Bridge.

I think Tottenham, for two or three years, have been one of the best teams in England. That is for sure. We are Chelsea, and it is a big derby. I don’t like that to be fair, but we have to accept it. For the Premier League it is good – a new stadium, they have top players.

But, at the end, at Chelsea, we won a lot of trophies, they have not, so I hope this continues. I think that I like that because people are not talking about Chelsea for the top four. We are quiet, fifth, sixth and then we can be ready for the game.

The Belgian knows a thing or two about the rivalry between the two sides, having scored that memorable goal at Stamford Bridge against Spurs to help Leicester City win the Premier League.

Chelsea flittered in and out of the top four on Wednesday night as they eased past Chris Hughton’s side.

However, Tottenham’s win in their new stadium on Wednesday saw them move back into the top four.

The Blues are level on points with Arsenal in fourth place, but Unai Emery’s side do have a game in hand.
