Kovacic in talks over Zenit move
Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is in talks over a potential move to Zenit in the summer.
Kovacic is currently on a season-long loan at Chelsea from Real Madrid and has made 28 Premier League appearances for the club this season.
According to The Daily Mail, Kovacic’s representatives held talks earlier this week over a move to Zenit as they plan for his future after the current campaign.
Chelsea have been hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA, which means that the club will not be able to keep Kovacic, on loan or permanently, next season.
The club have appealed the decision and could yet sign Kovacic if they are successful, but Kovacic’s agent is making sure he has options in the next transfer window.
The report also claims that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is happy to sanction Kovacic’s exit, as he looks to shape his squad in Spain.
