Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne is said to prefer the prospect of joining Chelsea this summer, despite interest from Liverpool.
As per a report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, as cited on the Metro, Insigne could be on his way out of Naples this summer.
It is being suggested that Carlo Ancelotti will look to revamp his Napoli squad over the summer and Insigne could be one of the players that the club look to move on.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Insigne in recent weeks, but the forward reportedly would like to reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
Insigne flourished under Sarri during his time in charge of the Naples club, which could make the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge more appealing for the diminutive attacker.
Any potential move is likely to depend on whether or not Sarri remains in a job over the summer and if Chelsea can successfully appeal their transfer ban.
Why Insigne would be a good signing for Chelsea
With Eden Hazard appearing to be on his way this summer, Chelsea will need to make a statement signing, as well as Christian Pulisic. Insigne could be that man.
Insigne has shown he is more than capable of playing out wide or centrally as a striker, something that could make him a useful addition to the Chelsea squad.
Worked with Sarri
Providing Sarri remains in a job, it will only benefit him to have players that are familiar with his demands and ideas at Stamford Bridge.
Approaching his peak
At 27 years of age, Insigne should theoretically be approaching the peak years of his career and Chelsea could be the ones to enjoy that.
