We’re desperate to keep hold of Zouma, claims Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson says his Everton teammates are desperate for Kurt Zouma to stay at the club beyond this season.

The Frenchman made the loan move to Goodison Park last summer, having been deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea.

Zouma has shone throughout the campaign, with his performances at the back lifting Marco Silva’s side into seventh place in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old’s future is still up in the air, but there has been talk of Everton making his temporary move a permanent one.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Sigurdsson says that is something he is keen to see happen, given the quality he has produced this season:

Of course, we want to keep every good player that we’ve got.

He’s been fantastic for us since he came in, so hopefully he’ll want to stay.

I’m sure the club will put a bit of pressure on him to stay, and I’m sure the boys will as well!

Zouma has made 33 appearances in total for Everton, scoring twice along the way.

He has become one of Silva’s more trusted players and is at an age where he should only improve.

If Everton could nail him down to a long-term deal, it would be an excellent piece of business.

matchday.
