The Blues could be on the lookout for new recruits in the midfield department in the upcoming transfer window, with Mateo Kovacic currently only on loan at Stamford Bridge.
Maurizio Sarri will be hoping to add more quality to his ranks in the summer, but his hands could be tied.
Chelsea are looking to have their two-window transfer ban delayed by FIFA to enable them to spend money and complete signings this summer, with speculation still ongoing regarding possible arrivals.
Mendes has been in fine form this season with Lille and has helped the club climb to second place on the Ligue 1 table.
The Brazilian midfielder is a vital player in Christophe Galtier’s plans at the French outfit, however, and if he is to make a move this summer, it is likely that he will cost a premium price.
