Tottenham keen on Chelsea target Youcef Atal

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly discussing the possibility of battling Chelsea in the signature for Nice defender Youcef Atal, according to the Daily Mail.

The report states that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is considering bringing in up to five first-team additions this summer, with the Algerian right-back making the shortlist.

The Blues have been heavily linked with a move to sign Atal themselves in recent weeks, and have even explored the possibility of allowing youngster Tariq Lamptey to head the other way in a potential deal.

Atal, 22, is capable of playing further forward, proving his goalscoring abilities with a first career hat-trick against Guingamp last weekend.

The youngster’s versatility could be extremely handy for Chelsea next season, with Maurizio Sarri unsure as to where Blues star Eden Hazard will be plying his trade next season.

Nice boss Patrick Vieira has played down talks linking Atal with a move away from the club this summer, however, after a series of impressive displays, the defender looks set to be a man in demand when the window opens.
