Chelsea’s search for a new director of football looks set to continue with LOSC Lille’s President Gerard Lopez revealing the highly sought after Luis Campos will remain at the Ligue 1 side next season.
The Blues have been in search of a replacement for Michael Emenalo since November 2017, when the former technical director ended his 10-year stay at Stamford Bridge, and sporting director Campos was seen as the ideal replacement.
Serie A side AS Roma were also eyeing a move for the Portuguese director, who was the man behind AS Monaco’s recent success and has seemingly had a similar impact with Lille, who are currently second in Ligue 1.

However, Lopez revealed to French news outlet La Parisien that Campos will be staying at the club this summer despite being the subject of numerous “huge bids.”
Luis received absolutely huge bids. I saw offers and I know what he can be worth to other clubs. For me, he’s the best recruiter in the world. But he’ll be here next season and he will be here for a long time. He is also my friend, he totally believes in this project. He proved it by refusing such offers. He is a builder. He likes to teach things to young people, it will always be more in LOSC than in other clubs. We’re talking about his ‘scouts’ team that is exceptional, but he also accompanies the players he discovered.
