Chelsea boosted in hopes of signing Bruno Fernandes this summer

Chelsea have been boosted in their efforts to sign Sporting star Bruno Fernandes with Man City denying having interest in the midfielder.

The Portugal international has been on fine form for Sporting CP this season both domestically and in Europe.

The attacking midfielder has a superb return also, scoring 31 goals and assisting 17 from his 51 appearances in all appearances.

His impressive performances this campaign have caught the eye of the best in Europe, and among those are Chelsea and Man City.

Man City have been reported to be close to finalising a deal for the 24-year-old, with a fee of around £45 million mentioned.

But club representatives have today insisted that they have no interest in Fernandes, as reported by Manchester Evening News reporter Simon Bajkowski.

For Chelsea, this will come as a huge boost, with the Blues said to be very interesting in signing the player this summer.

This summer and next season looks set to be a very transitional period for the Blues, with Eden Hazard among others looking likely to depart Stamford Bridge.

Hazard on his day one is of the very best players in the world and he is always going to be near on impossible for Chelsea to replace.
