Chelsea target Marcos Llorente considering Premier League move

Chelsea target Marcos Llorente is set to leave Real Madrid this summer and it looks as though the Premier League could be his destination after a number of clubs have expressed their interest in the player.

After it was made apparent he wouldn’t be involved in Zinedine Zidane’s plans, the Spaniard wants a move to an outfit who will give him more playing time, according to Spanish news outlet AS.

Since Zidane’s return to Madrid, the 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order. While playing under Santiago Solari, Llorente was allowed much more playing time.

With Real’s midfield dominated by the likes of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos, it will be difficult for Marcos to break into the first team anytime soon.

So with the player in search of first-team football, many clubs have made it clear they want him at the club; Chelsea being one, while Athletico Madrid are preparing to replace 22-year-old Rodri, who has been linked with Manchester City.

Marcos Llorente would certainly fit into the Blues’ midfield with his impressive ability to win the ball and pick a pass, and playing alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho would allow the player some creative freedom.

However, should Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban remain after it was unsuccessfully appealed the first time, the chances of a move to the West London club would be slim.

Europa League rivals Eintracht Frankfurt have also expressed their interest in the Llorente, with the Bundesliga club looking to bolster their squad ahead of a possible Champions League place next season.
