Christian Pulisic excited ahead of Blues move

Winter signing Christian Pulisic has expressed his excitement to join up with Chelsea ahead of pre-season once his spell at Borussia Dortmund comes to an end.

The American initially signed for Chelsea in January but was immediately loaned back to Dortmund as part of the deal, where he will remain until the Bundesliga season ends.

The 20-year-old has featured in 29 games for the German side this season, scoring seven and assisting five. Although he has been pushed down the pecking order due to teammate Jadon Sancho’s uprising, Pulisic has made it clear he is very excited for some first-team football and has already picked out who he looks forward to playing alongside in West London.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website in his first interview as a Blue, he said:

There are so many great players here already and I can’t wait to work with them all.

I’m excited to play alongside N’Golo kante, I think he’s a fantastic player and I can’t wait to meet him.

Also there’s the guys in the backline, players like David Luiz and [Antonio] Rudiger, I’m looking forward to working them and I think it’s going to be really cool.

Pulisic will have one game remaining with Dortmund when they come up against Monchengladbach in the last day of the league, as the Bundesliga title could fall to either Dortmund or Bayern Munich.

Once the loan expires, he will be joining up with his new teammates at Stamford Bridge ready for pre-season and the 2019/20 Premier League campaign. Pulisic is confident he can make an immediate impact.

I think coming here will be a smooth transition for me, already knowing the language and things like that.

The American winger comes to the club with the possibility of Belgian star Eden Hazard leaving; by this time next season we will see whether he is a good enough replacement.

matchday.
