Chelsea could sign Barcelona outcast and Arsenal flop Denis Suarez this summer if Maurizio Sarri remains in charge.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, the player is widely expected to leave Barcelona once again this summer, but whether that is on loan or permanently remains to be seen.
Despite his struggles with Arsenal this season, a move to the Premier League is not being ruled out.
Sarri is said to be a huge admirer of the player and has previously tried to sign him during his time at Napoli.
Suarez has been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge this season too, but he opted to join Arsenal on loan in January.
Injuries hampered his time in London and he was unable to make an impact before seeing his move cut short.
Valencia have also emerged as a potential destination for the player as he looks to get what was once a promising career back on track. Suarez worked with Marcelino during his time at Villarreal and knows the manager well.
Reasons why Chelsea should avoid a move for Denis Suarez
Although his injuries overshadowed his time in London, Suarez showed nowhere near enough quality to warrant another Premier League move. A player who joined with a lot of excitement ultimately disappointed.
Allow the youth to come through instead
Should he join the Blues this summer, he would be another body in the way of the current crop of youngsters coming through the ranks at the club. The likes of Mason Mount are surely a better long-term option for the club.
Should Chelsea trust Sarri?
Gonzalo Higuain was dubbed as a ‘Sarri favourite’ and he has failed to deliver as of yet in London. The club have been reluctant to back the manager in the transfer market in the past.
Is he of sufficient quality?
There have always been question marks about just how good the Spaniard is and you have to wonder if Chelsea already have better players on their books.
