Former Chelsea defender and current Derby County full-back Ashely Cole believes Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori are both good enough to be in the Blues’ first team squad following their impressive respective campaign’s on loan with the Rams.

The pair have played key roles in Derby’s run to the play-off final this season, with Tomori playing 50 times for Frank Lampard’s side in all competitions, while Mount has played 41.

And Cole, who joined the Rams in January until the end of the season, has been impressed by the Chelsea loanee’s and believes they both have the ability to feature in the Blues’ first team squad next season, football.london report via the Daily Telegraph.

It’s their attitudes that stand out. You see a lot of young players who have not made it, not playing with the first team, and they are a little bit big-time. But these kids have got good heads on their shoulders, they want to learn. They want to listen, they train hard and want to improve every day and that’s what you want.

I think Chelsea has definitely installed that in them. They’ve come out on loan and Chelsea have said it’s down to you to prove yourself. For me, both of them have proved themselves and they are definitely good enough to be in the Chelsea squad. We could be asking for another five years ‘are they good enough?’, but until you play them no-one will ever know. Maybe they will excel when put in that position to play five games in a row for Chelsea. That is the only way they will improve.

Both are said to have an excellent chance of featuring in the Blues’ first team next season given Chelsea’s impeding two-window transfer ban, and their fine form for Derby this campaign.

And the pair will have the chance to shine for Lampard’s side once again when they face Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final on Monday 27th May.
