PSG striker Edinson Cavani is being considered as a replacement for Chelsea’s talisman Eden Hazard, who is heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
According to BBC Sport, the Uruguayan has fallen out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain after a season hit by injury and a poor relationship with Brazilian superstar Neymar.
PSG consider Cavani surplus to requirements after his frequent clashes with the world’s most expensive player and are hoping to offload him this summer.
Despite his injury problems Cavani still scored 22 goals in only 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
Cavani is also the all-time PSG top scorer, having scored 194 goals in 279 appearances for the Parisian side.
The 32 year old is also linked with a move to his former club Napoli. However if Chelsea’s transfer ban is overturned, it is highly likely that the Blues will outbid any rivals for the powerful striker. Cavani would add serious firepower to help the Blues challenge for trophies next season.
Chelsea are short on attacking options after Gonzalo Higuain’s disappointing loan spell and the potential loss of Eden Hazard. The Blues have extended Olivier Giroud’s contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2021.
Potential transfer targets for Chelsea
Icardi has suffered a rollercoaster of a season at Inter Milan. His wife and agent Wanda has repeatedly clashed with club officials. Although he has suggested he wants to stay at the Italian side, Icardi has only scored 10 goals in Serie A this season, possibly affected by the frosty atmosphere at Inter. The 26 year old has scored 110 goals in 186 appearances for Inter Milan.
The Spanish prospect is not a centre forward but could perhaps replace Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard as part of a swap deal that sees the Belgian move to Madrid. Asensio has scored 41 goals in 242 appearances in La Liga.
Isak is a Swedish striker currently on loan at Dutch side Willem II from his parent club Borussia Dortmund. He was widely considered as the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After a difficult start at Dortmund, Isak has gone on to break goalscoring records at Willem II, netting 14 goals in 18 appearances.
The 22 year old is part of the sensational Ajax side that reached the semi finals of the Champions League, scoring two goals against Juventus and Real Madrid to knock the titans out of the competition. Chelsea are keen to sign the star with a number of European sides keeping a watchful eye on the rising talent.
